Laura Bell Bundy is an American actress who began her career in theater in 1993. She starred as Tina Denmark in the off-Broadway musical “Ruthless! The Musical.” Because of her impressive performance on the show, she earned a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Musical that said year.

She left the world of theater to work on film and television, and in 2002 Laura Bell Bundy returned to the stage and made her Broadway debut in the musical “Hairspray.” She played the role of antagonist Amber Von Tussle. She also served as a standby for actresses Jennifer Laura Thompson and Kristin Chenoweth in the role of Glinda in the play “Wicked.” Her breakthrough role in Broadway came when she starred as Elle Woods in the stage adaptation of “Legally Blonde-The Musical.” She received a Tony Award nomination for her role on the said production.

Laura Bell Bundy also starred in the national tour of “The Sound of Music” and the production of “Rock of Age” in Los Angeles.

During her time away from the stage, Laura Bell Bundy took time to work on films such as “The Adventures of Huck Finn,” “Life with Mickey,” and “Jumanji.” She later had a role in the film adaptation of “Dreamgirls” in 2006 opposite Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce Knowles as one of the members of the girl group “Dave & the Sweethearts.”

On television, Laura Bell Bundy starred on the CBS soap opera “The Guiding Light,” where she played the role of Marah Lewis from 1999 to 2001, and also appeared in shows such as “Happy Hour,” “Modern Men,” “Veronica Mars,” “Cold Case” and “Strangers with Candy.”

Aside from being an actress on and off stage, Laura Bell Bundy is also a trained singer. She released her debut country album named “Longing for a Place Already Gone.” After finishing “Legally Blonde: The Musical” in July 2008, she went to Nashville, Tennessee to work on sophomore album.

In September 2008, Laura Bell Bundy performed at the Chance Theater in Anaheim, California with actress Eden Espinosa. She also led the Broadway Chance Style Up Close and Personal Concert with actress Lea Michele.

Laura Bell Bundy had guest roles in the TV show “Cold Case” with Tracie Thoms and Adam Pascal.

In 2009, Laura Bell Bundy became a judge at the Miss America 2009 pageant. She also reprised her role as Elle Woods in the 2009 leg of “Legally Blonde-The Musical.”
